THELOOP
About & standards

Verification first. No glorification.

The Loop is independent media on the use of drones and unmanned systems in modern war — written to be read by a practitioner and understood by everyone else. We sit between the footage aggregators and the broad investigators: explainer-grade analysis where every claim carries its provenance.

How we verify

Every report is tagged with a verification status — geolocated, sourced, reviewed, or developing — and, where relevant, a confidence level and the method behind it. We would rather publish less and be right than publish fast and be loud.

Geolocation & date

Visual claims are geolocated and dated before publication wherever the evidence allows. If we can't, we say so.

Provenance on every claim

Sources are cited inline and listed at the end. We distinguish primary evidence from estimates and clearly label both.

Content warnings; no gratuitous footage

We contextualize, we don't glorify. Graphic material is flagged, and never used for shock value.

OPSEC filter

We publish nothing that endangers operators — no live positions, identities, or details that aid targeting.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. Spotted an error or have a tip, document, or footage to verify? Write to hello@theloop.report.
